One Big Old Boat Project

I haven't blogged recently because frankly we just seem to be entrenched in boat projects...entrenched in a good way that is! The roller furling unit went on and I just think it's beautiful.  Not sure if you can call boat hardware beautiful but I'm going to because I'm so excited about what it will be like to sail Steadfast with it.  Course, we can't do much actual sailing because we still need the sail to be measured now and then built....never-the-less....I can imagine.   We also are making progress on the canvas work, the new dodger and bimini are in place and I just LOVE the black.  I'm thinking that it really makes our boat look like a pirate ship which is fun to talk about with the boys.  We'll be getting matching sail covers for the main and the staysail and then the furled sail will have just a bit of it to protect the sail.  I'm hopeful we can get all this done by the end of the month.  Keith and I have been working on finishing up the cap rail project, we finished attaching it and I'm working to get it sanded and ready for a new coat of varnish.  That will be really nice to have off the project list.

We still haven't completely finalized our direction for the fuel tank.  We are pretty ok for now but know we need to determine what size we should buy and where to install it exactly.  That's for another days mulling.

Meanwhile the kids are having a blast enjoying the beach and I'm slowly working on getting them back into a school routine. The little boys were suppose to start online school this week but we are having trouble getting all the necessary paperwork together.  Mason on the other hand starts in September and is pretty jazzed about the extra time.....though  I reminded him it will catch up to him eventually.

The family is getting ready to head out of Santa Cruz as soon as our projects here are done.  We are looking forward to heading into a new port and checking out the neighborhood.  We are online now trying to figure out where we'd like to go first....our priority list is perhaps a little different then others, like....how good is their wifi???
