Keith and I are doing some major debating lately about which projects should come first. Luckily we had a little extra cash come in so now we can debate with earnest (vs halfheartedly). Our primary conflict point is that I want roller furling and a new head sail. I hate dropping that heavy sail when the seas are bumpy and the wind is building....I love the freedom of being able to take in some sail easily from the cockpit. For Steadfast in particular, going out on the bowsprit to haul down a hanked sail is a wee bit sketchy. I'm not a sailing barbie or anything but I think that if it helps us sail safer as a family then it should be a top priority. Keith is just having a very hard time with the price tag. I agree, the cost of the furling unit is pretty mind blowing (~3-4k) so I understand where he is coming from but I think it is a worthwhile investment and will make sailing that much more enjoyable. We still have time and the debate will go on I'm sure for the next few months until Keith can get out to California and get some quotes and start to get his hands dirty. Then we'll see who wins the debate!
